the stories behind our founders
It's important to us that our clients get to know about us - our motivations, our stories. and the reasons behind why Paper Kite Wellness Collective and Peak State exist.
For us, these are so much more than "businesses". They are vehicles that we have created that allow us to share our experiences and to follow our purposes to help people maximise the human experience.
Dana Gambrill
Founder - Paper Kite Wellness Collective
If you ask Dana to try and define herself you will often be met with a response that includes things like parent, pizza lover, road-tripper, surfer, thinker, problem solver, ex-IT executive, singer, actor, musician, hippie, friend, and more. She is clearly someone who doesn’t care much to be labled, defined or restricted.
Of the many highs and lows that she has experienced through all of this she singles out three major defining events in her life:
-
Navigating the loss of one of her twin sons at birth
-
Undergoing a double heart bypass at the age of 37, and surviving a total of 4 heart “events” and;
-
Undergoing a gender transition in her 50's
The lessons from her life and those events in particular have been profound, and have shaped her passion for truly valuing the gift of life, and for building the resilience and wellness needed to really maximise what she refers to as “this human experience”.
Its that same passion that has led her to create Paper Kite Wellness Collective to give as many people as possible the same chance to maximise their own lives.
Nathan Jones
David Wiseman
Co-Founders - PEAK STATE
Nathan Jones and David Wiseman share a history of service and of sporting success. Nathan broke his spine during a dramatic flying incident in which he saved the lives of 200 passengers and David still carries a bullet in his chest from the conflict in Afghanistan.
Prior to joining the Royal Air Force, Nathan was a professional rugby player and David has climbed some of the world’s highest mountains. Both have experienced success at multiple Invictus Games.
Their joint experiences of adversity and subsequent post-traumatic growth combined with their sporting backgrounds, military ethos and passion for driving systemic change to help others, have led them to develop Peak State.
