Preparing For Your Light Therapy

LIGHT THERAPY

What is Light Therapy?

LED light therapy is commonly used to treat a number of skin concerns through the simple application of therapeutic LED light.

It is non-irritant and suitable for all skin types including sensitive and reactive.

What treatment outcomes can I expect?

Our state of the art medium machine provides 5 treatment wavelengths offering the following outcomes:

  • Blue (420nm) — Reduces sebaceous activity, works to clear congestion and kills acne causing bacteria.

  • Green (520nm) — Anti-inflammatory action to reduce swelling and strengthen capillaries. It also aids detoxification.

  • Yellow (590nm) — Stimulates collagen production and assists wound repair to naturally heal and regenerate skin from within. It increases skin hydration, thickness and delivers redness reduction.

  • Red (633nm) — Increases blood circulation and lymphatic flow to encourage cellular renewal and promote a youthful complexion.

  • Near Infrared (830nm) — Increases white blood cell production to regenerate and repair inflamed and aged skin. Works to boost ATP for deep cellular regeneration and wound healing.

How long does a treatment take?

LED light treatments will take 10 - 20 (maximum) minutes or each area to be treated.

What should I do before I arrive?

To be effective LED treatments need to be delivered to clean skin. That means that any skin products and make-up should be removed from the area to be treated. We will also have appropriate cleansers and wipes on hand in the studio if required.

When should I avoid light therapy?

People with any skin type and color can use LED light therapy. LED light therapy doesn't use ultraviolet (UV) light, so it doesn't cause damage or burns to your skin.

The major contraindications for the use of light therapy are diseases that involve the retina of the eye, such as diabetes, and the use of photosensitizing medications like lithium, melatonin, phenothiazine antipsychotics, and certain antibiotics.

People who have a history of certain conditions, including skin cancer and inherited eye diseases should consult their doctor before using LED light therapy.
